Students not classified as California residents for tuition purposes may qualify for an exception from payment of nonresident tuition.  Students must have the Legal Capacity to establish California residence and satisfy the requirements on the RDD (not over one year prior).  If granted a residency exception, students must verify that they have established their own residence at the expiration of their eligibility for the exception.  If the residency requirements have not been met at that time, students will be reclassified to nonresident for tuition purposes.
