ESE 80 - Strategies for Successful College Writing
Prerequisite: Required to complete Early Start Program for Written Communication. This one-unit online course teaches strategies for succeeding in college writing. Students prepare and draft an essay, engage in peer review of drafts, revise and edit their essay and use campus resources for writing. Successful completion meets Early Start Program requirements.

ESE 101P - Preparatory College Writing
Practice and instruction in college-level writing. Writing, revision, grammar, rhetorical and research skills necessary for success in ENGL 101. Enrollment determined by appropriate placement assessment.

ESE 100/100W - Analytical College Writing
ESE 100 - ANALYTICAL COLLEGE WRITING
Prerequisite: Corequisite: ESE 100W. Students will learn to express ideas effectively in well-developed, focused essays that support arguments with relevant and adequate evidence, and use the style and conventions of standard academic prose. ESE 100 and ENGL 100 are the same course. Successful completion meets both Early Start and GE Written Communication requirements. Restricted to Early Start students.
ESE 100 Enrollment Requirement Group: Students who are recommended, but not required, to participate in the Early Start Program for Written Communication and ready to enroll in a course that meets the GE Written Communication requirement and includes supported instruction and also enroll in ESE 100W. Students who are eligible for but do not complete ESE 100/100W must complete either ESE 101P or ENGL 101P before enrolling in ENGL 101.
ESE 100W - ANALYTICAL COLLEGE WRITING WORKSHOP
Corequisite: ESE 100. With tutorial, computer, and classroom activities, serves as the corequisite of ESE 100. As such, seeks to improve students' ability to compose analytical college essays. ESE 100W and ENGL 100W are the same course. Successful completion meets Early Start Program, remediation and GE Writing requirements. Restricted to Early Start students.
ESE 100W Enrollment Requirement Group: Students who are recommended, but not required, to participate in the Early Start Program for Written Communication and ready to enroll in a course that meets the GE Written Communication requirement and includes supported instruction who also enroll in ESE 100. Students who are eligible for but do not complete ESE 100/100W must complete either ESE 101P or ENGL 101P before enrolling in ENGL 101.

ESM 20 - Intermediate Algebra Preparation
Prerequisite: This online class is designed for students (STEM or non-STEM) are required to participate in the Early Start Program for math based on multiple measures placement standards. This class satisfies the Early Start math requirement but does not GE Math requirement. This class covers absolute values and inequalities, exponents, solving equations, linear functions. Students must register at least 3 business days prior to the start of the class.

ESM 110/10S - Mathematics for Liberal Arts Students and Supplement
Prerequisite: This class is designed for Destination non-STEM or Undeclared students who are required to participate in the Early Start Program math based on multiple measures placement standards. Will be taught in a corequisite model, with 3-units of college credit and up to 1-unit of support offered during Early Start. This class, if passed with a C- or higher, satisfies the GE Math requirement. Students must register at least 3 business days prior to the start of the class.
ESM 110 - MATHEMATICS FOR LIBERAL ARTS STUDENTS
This class covers the survey of traditional and contemporary topics in mathematics, such as elementary logic, counting techniques, probability, statistics, and the mathematics of the social sciences. For non-science majors.
ESM 10S - MATHEMATICS FOR LIBERAL ARTS SUPPLEMENT
This class covers order of operations, calculator functions, fractions, percent, linear equations, inequalities, quadratics, exponential and logarithmic functions, sequences and series. Degree credit not awarded.

ESM 120 - INTRODUCTION TO PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS
This class covers set algebra, finite probability models, sampling, binomial trials, conditional probability and expectation. Recommended for students of economics, business, and biological, geological and social sciences.
ESM 20S - ELEMENTARY STATISTICS SUPPLEMENT
This class covers order of operations, mathematical expressions and functions. Conversion between fractions, proportions, decimals, percentages and probabilities. Average rate of change, equation of a line and intersection of two lines. Mathematical and statistical word problems. Data entry and use of statistical software.
